Its been over nine months since I've gotten my learners and I figured I'm just about ready to take my driver's exam. In fact, it would appear my driving instructor also agrees as he has tried to contact me several times, though unsuccessfully, over the past two weeks. Naturally, I assumed he wanted to push me into doing the exam during reading week....or so I thought...
Today, I got a call from Alberta Transportation and apparently my instructor is now being investigated for his negligent teaching habits. As much as I don't like seeing bad things happen to others, he really does deserve it. During my lessons, my instructor would often conduct other business. Not only that, the routes he makes me take all have one thing in common - it gets him to where he needs to be. Every lesson, I can be assured I am taking him somewhere. Such business includes going to pay his bills, meeting a friend at Tim Hortons, going to conduct his extracurricular activities and much, much more. And each time, he would disappear for at least 10 minutes! I really felt like I was chaffeur rather than a student and on one occasion, I WAS a chaffeur as I drove to his house, picked up his son, and dropped him of at Grant MacEwan College. To top it all off, he never makes up for the lost time. Its even worse for the in-class defensive driving course. When he has enough students, he would just herd all of us like sheep into a crowded room and leave us alone to watch videos eight hours straight on a two button tv that he probably found barely functioning and thrown away in a garbage can...in 1970. His videotapes were in no better condition. They have been played so often that much of the sound, color and video has faded away. And I swear one of the videos was taken directly from “The Learning Channel” (as indicated by the TLC logo). There was no effort in making constructive feedback and instead, he was more concerned with making the mandatory 15 hours. He was randomly shoving tapes into the vcr to the point we even watched some videos twice. And for the exam, it was more like a class discussion. Even the marker gave us some assistance!
So what exactly is the point of telling you this? Well, most people fear new drivers who don't have their license even though they have been driving for quite awhile. In fact, my mom even used it as an excuse of not letting me drive on a certain road because I don't have my license. Well, would it make you feel any safer if I got my license knowing the type of training I got? Didn't think so. =)
Anyways, being the nice guy I am, I backed up my instructor and tried to give some positive inputs - resonably that is. It was quite obvious someone filed a complaint on him. The questions asked by Alberta Transportation were very specific as if they already know what they are looking for and expect which brings to mind, isn't the government suppose to be neutral when conducting an investigation or survey? Their questions were asked very biasedly! Maybe I should file a complaint on them!
Anyhow, looks like I won't be able to take my test until this investigation is over..that should excuse me for a few months ;)
I've also recently downloaded another Final Fantasy Piano Collections (VII) and once again, I'm impressed by the music. I'll be posting all of my Final Fantasy music for downloading in the near future so stay tuned! Good job Nobuo! Screw you CMPUT 391!
Due to the number of feedback and interest, I have added a Religion link on the side that will bring you the right post. Its my way of making the thread “sticky” without going in to change the code :)
