Reading the news today, I came across an article that announced the commissioning of U.S. Submarine Jimmy Carter. According to officials, this submarine will play a vital role in the war against terrorism with its capability of tapping undersea cables and eavesdropping on communications passing through them. What the officials don't say is that by doing so, they can also eavesdrop on what you are doing from international waters thus undoubtedly bypassing an army of privacy laws and who knows what else. I wouldn't be surprised if the navy crewman started downloading movies and music. And although there are international rules against such acts of eavesdropping, I doubt there will be much debate against U.S. Not to mention you would have to catch them in the act first. Seems to me the only organization that might be willing to tread into those waters is the MPAA. You can always count on them!
