I use to think chinese people were among the most polite people out there but somehow along the road of age, they (I don't consider myself among them) seem to have lost all their manners. Have you noticed that chinese people always leave their cell phones on even at venues like concerts? Or how they tend to talk loudly when they should be whispering? Granted, old age may have something to do with it but somehow, the effects of age seem to be much more prevalent in chinese people. I saw no better example than today. I attended a funeral today for the wife of Frank Gee (a very respected man in the chinese comunity) where I was the violin accompanist for the choir and some of the people there can just be unbelievable. During the ceremony, you would here people talking and on occasion even a cell phone ring. I was sitting in the third row from the front and this guy in front of me had his cell phone ring. He quickly grabs it and silences the ringer. Okay fine, maybe he forgot - an honest mistake. Half an hour later, his phone rings again and this time he answers it! He leans down trying not to attract attention but he was obviously not quiet enough. The nerve some people have! I was embarrassed to be Chinese. I can only hope I don't turn into one of them.
