Portable Media Expo: Conclusion

The second day of the Portable Media Expo appeared to be much busier than the first. Mack started the day with a 30 minute on-stage presentation of our products and although the internet did not work for his demo, he still gave a good presentation that brought some traffic to our booth. Unfortunately, our original plan of showing off our podbot didn't work out as the plane ride must have damaged the electronics. It was definitely a great disappointment, especially when it was a big hassle to bring all the way down. But all in all, we've got tons of exposure and I found this expo very worthwhile. I definitely look forward to the one next year in September. At the end of the expo, one person asked us what was the most amazing thing we heard at the expo. I replied that the large number of attendees is probably the most amazing part of the expo. The number of attendees, their age range and their different phases of podcasting from wanting to learn more about it to those trying to learn better ways of doing it has really shown podcasting's growth and that its not just for the "geeks". Much credit goes to Tim Bourquin for hosting such a great event. He definitely has good foresight to predict the need for such a conference a year ago!

We didn't have much time that evening to travel around as we had to return the car by 9:30 pm. So we did what any logical person would do - we went to Hollywood! We cut through Santa Monica and made our way to the intersection of Rodeo Drive and Sunset Blvd which had tons of high end stores and houses that looked like mansions. I mentioned to Mack that the vegetation used as fences around the houses were like Vancouver - except it was twice as high here! For supper, we decided to goto Denny's but upon seeing the International House of Pancakes, I couldn't miss the opportunity to satisfy my pancake cravings. The pancakes and scrambled eggs were worth its weight in gold!

Our plane ride back to Calgary seem to have gone by quickly. Partly, because we had company from Dave Slusher for most of the trip and the fact I was a very sound sleeper during the flight. We had a quick lunch at Earl's in Calgary and left for Edmonton after acquiring 4 dozen Krispy Kreme donuts! While its good to be home, the sudden change from palm trees to snowy weather has me wanting to go back.

Check out my pictures and also Mack's. (I've pulled some of his pictures into my collection)
