Western Standard, an Alberta-based political magazine, decided to publish the offensive Muhammad cartoons citing that Western media has been pushed into fear. From
CBC:
"I'm doing something completely normal. I'm publishing the centre of a controversy. That's what news magazines do."
He said news organizations are more than willing to publish items that Christians find offensive because Christians only react by writing a letter to the editor.
"They don't bomb embassies and behead journalists," Levant said.
"Don't tell me the CBC respects religion. It's afraid of one religion."
While his arguments do have some merits, I think it was a very poor decision to publish the cartoons considering what has happened thus far. By doing so, he risks the lives of others and can cost million of dollars. I'm sure if their headquarters were based in the Middle East, he would have done otherwise. Frankly, I think their actions are merely a media stunt to attract readers and that they should be liable for any lives or building lost as a result of their published article.
