This weekend was quite eventful with my Iron Ring ceremony and our Paramagnus celebration dinner. The Iron Ring ceremony wasn't as spectacular as I thought considering the secrecy surrounding it. I expected something like making us do hand-stands while trying to touch our nose with our tongues followed by something reminiscent of Fear Factor. Instead, we spent the morning in groups examining the ethical and legal implications of situations we may run into during our career and hearing speeches from various members of APEGGA (and referring to an incident in the previous year, a warning not to sell our Iron Rings on Ebay) . The highlight for me was when one of my friends fell asleep during a speech and ended up with a spoon and two packets of sugar down his pants - one of which came out empty! The actual ceremony was very crowded with the arrival of guests and the 500 graduating engineers packed into Hall C of the Shaw Conference. We made a pledge while clutching a chain that was used as an early measuring tool and then the wardens placed the ring into our pinkie of our working hand to officially signify our Engineering status. Now all I have to do is make sure I pass my courses this semester! I have a few
pictures but didn't get a chance to take more as photos were prohibited during the ceremony.

Following the ceremony was our Paramagnus celebration dinner at Joey's Global. We had quite a few people show up so thanks for coming out! And special thanks to
Megan (and others who helped/chipped in) for coming up with such an awesome cake though I have no idea why we sang Happy Birthday! I'm sure this is going to be one of the many celebration dinners we will have down the road so don't feel too bad if you couldn't come! We're already getting ready for our next competition happening next
week (we decided yesterday to participate) so stay tune for news and check out some of the
photos from the evening.
Oh...and nice try getting me drunk - but I'm INVINCIBLE...
