Congratulations to Violet and Vincent on their marriage! The weather couldn't have been any better, and both the ceremony and the banquet went really smoothly!
It was a very happy day for all of us yet I can't help but feel a little overwhelmed. All of my life, I'm always looking at my elders and thinking to myself "
wow, that's so far off in the future" as if it's a separate world altogether. It's not often you step out of that mentality, whether it's your first trip to the bar, your walk across the stage to receive your degree or your reflexes starting to dull, but their wedding was one of those moments. I've known Violet since grade 7 and we've been pretty close friends all these years. We've shared joy, tears, and many childish laughs but in a blink of an eye here was Violet, absolutely stunning, stepping up to the podium with Vincent to announce their life long commitment to each other. It's overwhelming to see how much we've all grown up but also the fact that one of my closest friends is now moving away. Granted, she's only going to be 3 hours away but certainly things will be different. At the sametime, their wedding has also been very inspiring. Just watching the slideshow of the experiences they've shared and their sheer happiness that evening shows that there is so much more out there. There is so much to do, so much to see but there are only a few things that can really make life so much richer and fulfilling. Indeed, life is too short and even a day is too much to waste. Right now, I'm feeling happy, sad and inspired all at the sametime and sorting it out hasn't been too easy.
I'm very happy for Violet and Vincent and I know they will both live very happy lives! Congratulations and have fun on your honeymoon!
