Cruise Trip: When calories become a mere statistic...

I've been on the cruise ship for a few days now and if there is one thing I'll remember, it is the endless supply of food. When I finish a meal, I like to think of it in terms of three endings. There's the comfortably full when you've eaten just enough to not crave any other food. Then there's the bulging full when you've eaten a little too much and you have to loosen your belt to breathe comfortably. And lastly, there's the hazardously full when you feel eating any more would induce vomit. Almost every night I've been bulgingly full and on other days, I've felt hazardously full (The biggest meal I've eaten is 4 dinner rolls, 3 lobster tails, 2 beef filet mignon, 1 fruit plate, 1 french egg custard dessert). With over 10 different restaurants onboard (and a handful of bars and lounges), it's almost impossible to go a few minutes without having food on the mind. Tonight is the Captain's Gala Dinner and I have no intentions to hold back :).

During this trip, we've docked three times including at Bahamas, a private beach and just today, at Bermuda. At these places, I've done various shore excursions including visiting musuems, biking, sightseeing, boating and touring on a segway (sounds geeky but it was worth every penny!).

We also spent a whole day on a beach at the private island (owned by the cruise company) and it was everything I thought it would be (except for the unbelievably salty water). There was carribean music, volleyball, barbeque, drinking, various beach games, tanning and lots of swimming. We even caught a few fish using a towel as a net and bread as bait until the lifeguard whistled us down!

Tomorrow is our last day at sea before we return to New York early Saturday morning and a few days after that, I might be joining a few relatives to Toronto and Niagara Falls.

P.S. After spending a few days at sea without seeing land, I feel like I'm in a giant 5-star fish bowl.
