Wow, who would have thought an upgrade would have been so painful! But I'm glad I'm finally out of the stone age and able to take advantage of some of the better features Community Server offers.
Although CS 2.1 is the current release, I've elected not to upgrade to avoid further complications. Here are some tips that might make your upgrade much easier:
- You have to upgrade from DotText 0.95 -> CS 1.1 -> CS 2.x
- You can migrate your data using this tool. (As of this posting, I could not find a tool to migrate directly to CS 2.x thus the upgrade path)
- An upgrade from CS 1.1 -> CS 2.x seems to have caused the comments' name to reset to the author of the blog. This is a known issue and a fix for this can be found here.
- To enable anonymous comments, you not only have to enable it in the blogs, but also the membership area. Goto Administrator -> Membership -> Posting Settings to enable.
- To configure a single blog, you can use this tool for CS 2.0 and another for CS 2.1. (I had trouble getting it to work the first time but on my second attempt, I used the ASP .NET 1.1 instead of ASP .NET 2.0 version. Not sure if it had anything to do with it)
