- Yes, I'm still very much alive and kicking!
- Who is going to win the gaming console war? Here's a site that provides estimates of the consoles sold to date. Given Sony's manufacturing shortage of PS3, I doubt we will see them on top anytime soon. As of today, NexGenWars reports:
- XBOX360: 8 million
- PS3: 377,142
- WII: 1.2 million
- Although I can hardly call myself a coffee fan, I did watch a documentary on the coffee industry and the incredibly disproportionate share of wealth with the farmers who produce the beans. Black Gold provides an eye-opening look into the industry by following the plight a coffee union president in Ethiopia who manages over 70,000 farmers and struggles to negotiate better prices for his farmers. While the documentary did provide a good perspective on the inequalities, I found the documentary somewhat one-sided. Not much was mentioned about the Fair Trade and its effect nor was anything mentioned about Starbucks' participation in the Fair Trade campaign. The documentary painted a very bleak picture and ended off on a even bleaker note. Maybe it was intentional in hopes to rally the people of the first and second world but I think the documentary came off too much as a marketing campaign.
- I'll be going to Kelowna in January for a 2-day snowboarding trip. More importantly, I'll be able to appease my IHOP crave!
- I finally ate my girlfriend.
- Looking for something different for your taste buds? Try the HighLevel Diner in Edmonton. The portions are good and the atmosphere is somewhat cozy. (My one caveat is stay away from their home-made ketchup. Home-made doesn't always mean it is good!)
